Regular Season Round 27: Hagen - Kirchheim 70-67

A very interesting game took place in Hagen. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Kirchheim Knights (14-11) to twelfth ranked Phoenix Hagen (8-15) 70-67 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Phoenix Hagen made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Kirchheim Knights turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Karrington Ward (201-93, college: EMU, agency: Players Group) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Joel-Sadu Aminu (193-97) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American Max Mahoney (203-98, college: Boston U.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Nico Brauner (187-94, college: St.Mary's) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Phoenix Hagen and four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Phoenix Hagen. They maintain twelfth place with 8-15 record. Kirchheim Knights at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Phoenix Hagen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Uni Baskets (#10) in Paderborn and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
