Regular Season Round 23: Yalova Vip - Cesme 101-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Yalova Vip's (13-8) home victory over 6th ranked Cesme (11-9) 101-87. Yalova Vip made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists. Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Swingman Rana Derin (175-92) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Yalova Vip's coach Mert Koprucu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Marie Benson (185-97, college: UT Arlington) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Gunesh Karaoglan (-97) added 16 points and 8 assists in the effort for Cesme. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Yalova Vip. They maintain fifth place with 13-8 record. Cesme at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Yalova Vip will play against league's second-placed Emlak Konut in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cesme will play at home against the league's leader Bursa (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
