Leader Merkezefendi delivered the sixteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 9th ranked Bornova Bld (12-12) 85-77 in Izmir. Merkezefendi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of Bahamas center Dwight Coleby (206-94, college: WKU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Chauncey Collins (183-95, college: TCU, agency: Alti Sport) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: EMU) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Mert Gizir (193-94) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Merkezefendi (16-8) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Newly promoted Merkezefendi maintains first position, which they share with Samsun. Bornova Bld at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Merkezefendi will meet at home Kagitspor (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Bornova Bld will play against Akhisar Bld and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
