Regular Season Round 24: Samsun - Gemlik 69-63

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Samsun as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Samsun defeated 14th ranked Gemlik at home 69-63. The best player for the winners was American-Brazilian center Tim Soares (211-97, college: Master's) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. Tayfun Erulku (192-94) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Maurice Watson (178-93, college: Creighton) who recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import center Myles Carter (206-97, college: Seattle) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. Gemlik's coach Fatih Elbas rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Denizli. Gemlik at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. Gemlik will play next round against Final Spor trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bursa - Final Spor. Samsun will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Sigortam.net in Balikesir.
