Regular Season Round 21: Miercurea Ciuc - Constanta 48-78

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 13th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (2-15) was crushed at home by bottom-ranked Constanta (2-16) 78-48 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Constanta. Miercurea Ciuc was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Miercurea Ciuc to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Constanta dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 22. They outrebounded Miercurea Ciuc 47-28 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Siler Schneider (190-95, college: UC Davis, agency: One Motive Sports) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and the former international center Julian Orbeanu (204-89, agency: BIG) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Worth to mention Schneider played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Vlad Corpodean (193-91, agency: BIG) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian forward Emanual Shepherd (203-95, college: Southern) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Constanta maintains fourteenth place with 2-16 record. Miercurea Ciuc lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Constanta will face higher ranked Dinamo B. (#9) in Bucuresti in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
