Regular Season Round 6: Vilniaus KM II - Zalgiris 58-82

The most shocking disappointment of round 6 in the U18 League was a home defeat of 6th ranked Vilniaus KM II (1-2) by seventh ranked Zalgiris (2-1) who outscored them by 24 points 82-58. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Vilniaus KM II managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vilniaus KM II's 30. They outrebounded Vilniaus KM II 43-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Point guard Ignas Bytautas (193-3) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Rokas Kabasinskas (182-3) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Kristijonas Saveika (195-3) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and forward Justas Bertasius (198-3) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Zalgiris moved-up to fifth place. Vilniaus KM II at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Siauliu. Zalgiris are looking forward to face Kedainiu (#9) at home in the next round. Vilniaus KM II's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilniaus to the arena Sostines.
