Second Stage Round 7: Zlatorog - Hopsi Polzela 73-98

The game between Top Four teams took place in Lasko. 3rd placed host Zlatorog (3-3) was smashed by first ranked Hopsi Polzela (5-1) 98-73. The game without a history. Hopsi Polzela led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.1 percent from the field. Hopsi Polzela players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Zlatorog was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Aaron Carver (201-96, college: ODU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Croatian power forward Josip Mikulic (215-93, college: Fairfield) accounted for 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Hopsi Polzela players scored in double figures. Forward Matic Grusovnik (199-95) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Klemen Pozin (180-95) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Zlatorog in the defeat. Zlatorog's coach Robi Ribezl gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Hopsi Polzela maintains first place with 5-1 record. Zlatorog at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Krka and Cedevita Ol.. Hopsi Polzela will play against Triglav (#4) in Kranj in the next round. Zlatorog will play on the road against the league's second-placed Sentjur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
