Regular Season Round 25: Mamak - Istanbul 82-94

Bottom-ranked Istanbul managed to get a fourth victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Istanbul won against sixth-ranked Mamak in Ankara 94-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mamak. Istanbul dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mamak's 36. They outrebounded Mamak 45-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. Istanbul looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Yigitcan Saybir (203-99) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American forward James White (204-93, college: Georgia Tech) accounted for 19 points and 14 rebounds. Four Istanbul players scored in double figures. American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: RMU) came up with 20 points and 4 assists and forward Umar Atin (199-94) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Mamak in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Istanbul maintains sixteenth place with 4-21 record. Loser Mamak keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Akhisar Bld. Istanbul will meet at home higher ranked Gemlik (#14) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mamak will play against Duzce Belediye (#9) and hope to secure a win.
