Regular Season Round 26: Neptunas - Nevezis 84-83

A very interesting game took place in Klaipeda. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Nevezis (7-20) to seventh ranked Neptunas (9-18) 84-83 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Nevezis took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Neptunas had a 21-17 second period charge getting the lead and Nevezis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-84. Neptunas made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Nevezis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 17 points. The former international guard Zygimantas Janavicius (193-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. Forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) produced 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89, agency: BIG) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Neptunas went down to eighth position due to points difference. Nevezis lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 20 games lost. Neptunas' next round opponent will be again bottom-ranked Nevezis (#10) in Kedainiai.
