Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Yalova Vip (15-8) beat at home 11th ranked Botas (8-14) 72-67 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Yalova Vip forced 20 Botas turnovers. Strangely Botas outrebounded Yalova Vip 52-37 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-85) fired 9 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international center Melike Yalcinkaya (189-93) chipped in 14 points. American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and Hatice Gulcelik (178-2) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Botas players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Yalova Vip. They maintain fifth place with 15-8 record. Loser Botas keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Duzce Bld. Yalova Vip will meet higher ranked Edremit (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Botas will play against the league's leader Bursa (#1) and hope to secure a win.
