A very close game took place in Itzehoe between Itzehoe and Giessen 2. Itzehoe (1-1) got a very close home victory over Giessen 2 (1-1). Itzehoe managed to escape with a 1-point win 75-74 in the game for the first place. Itzehoe looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Niclas Sperber (201-96) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American Christopher Hooper (198-91, college: SFC) accounted for 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. American swingman Donte Nicholas (196-87, college: FPU) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) added 22 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Giessen 2 in the defeat. Five Itzehoe and four Giessen 2 players scored in double figures. Giessen 2's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Itzehoe will meet at home Koblenz (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Giessen 2 will play against Schwelm and hope to win that game.
