Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Bayer Giants (16-10) won against on the road bottom-ranked Nuernberg (4-20) 97-90 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was American Grant Dressler (201-97, college: Chaminade) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Sheldon Eberhardt (196-95, college: Elon) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Center Jonathan Maier (211-92) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Martin Bogdanov (186-92) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Five Bayer Giants and four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bayer Giants. They maintain fifth place with 16-10 record. Loser Nuernberg stay dead last with 20 lost games. Bayer Giants will face Walter Tigers (#13) in Tuebingen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nuernberg will play on the road against Uni Baskets in Paderborn and hope to win that game.
