The game between second ranked ALBA Berlin (22-5) and sixth ranked Hamburg Towers (18-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. ALBA Berlin was defeated by Hamburg Towers in a tough game in Berlin 68-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ALBA Berlin. Hamburg Towers forced 19 ALBA Berlin turnovers. Strangely ALBA Berlin outrebounded Hamburg Towers 34-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Hamburg Towers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Kameron Taylor (198-94, college: Seton Hill) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals. His fellow American import point guard TJ Shorts (175-97, college: UC Davis) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Italian forward Simone Fontecchio (203-95) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for ALBA Berlin. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hamburg Towers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Newly promoted Hamburg Towers maintains sixth place with 18-9 record. Defending champion ALBA Berlin keeps the second position with five games lost. Hamburg Towers are looking forward to face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against 46ers in Giessen and is hoping to win this game.
