No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked EWE Baskets (21-6) crushed 12th ranked Telekom Baskets (10-18) in Oldenburg 106-87 on Saturday. EWE Baskets made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Telekom Baskets turnovers. Strangely Telekom Baskets outrebounded EWE Baskets 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Telekom Baskets' players. It was a good game for American Keith Hornsby (192-92, college: LSU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points. His fellow American import point guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Serbian Strahinja Micovic (205-92, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 21 points and American swingman Chris Babb (196-90, college: Iowa St., agency: Wasserman) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for EWE Baskets. They maintain fourth place with 21-6 record. Telekom Baskets lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. EWE Baskets will face Hamburg Towers (#6) on the road in the next round. Telekom Baskets will play against Bayern Muenchen (#3) and hope to win that game.
