The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Ploiesti CSM's (4-2) road victory over 6th ranked Agronomia (4-5) 84-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti CSM. Agronomia was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Agronomia 44-26 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Vlad Negoitescu (204-91, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American guard Joshua Reynolds (193, college: Madonna) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Ploiesti CSM players scored in double figures. Point guard Gheorghe Balmus (180-92) responded with 28 points and 4 assists and forward Andrei Petica (192-93) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Agronomia's coach Virgiliu Capusan rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ploiesti CSM. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sibiu 2. Loser Agronomia keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Ploiesti CSM will face higher ranked Stiinta (#3) in Bucaresti in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
