There was no surprise when 13th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (2-18) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Craiova (11-5) 88-74 on Saturday. The game without a history. Craiova led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was Croatian point guard Goran Filipovic (180-96) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian forward Emanual Shepherd (203-95, college: Southern) who recorded 13 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Brandon Alston (196-95, college: Georgia Tech, agency: GoEmpire Group) added 14 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Craiova moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oradea. Miercurea Ciuc lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. They share the position with Constanta. Craiova is looking forward to face Focsani (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Dinamo B. and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
