Regular Season Round 33: Ternopil-TNEU - Mykolaiv 85-75

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Mykolaiv (6-26) was defeated on the road by third ranked Ternopil-TNEU (22-13) 85-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Ternopil-TNEU outrebounded Mykolaiv 35-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 assists for the winners and Nigerian forward Avery Ugba (203-94, college: Austin Peay, agency: BIG) chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Ternopil-TNEU players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Nathan Adrian (206-95, college: WVU, agency: Inception Sports) with 27 points and the other American import point guard Derrick Colter (180-94, college: Duquesne, agency: Players Group) scored 11 points and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains third place with 22-13 record having just two point less than leader Kyiv Basket. Mykolaiv at the other side stay dead last with 26 lost games. Ternopil-TNEU will have a break next round. Mykolaiv will play on the road against Prometey (#4) in Kamianske and hope to win that game.
