The game between closely ranked teams ended with 15th ranked Ceyhan's (4-20) road loss to fourteenth ranked Istanbul Univ. (6-18) 65-74 on Sunday. Istanbul Univ. forced 19 Ceyhan turnovers. Ceyhan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Shayla Cooper (188-95, college: Ohio St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Center Eylul Minez (185-99) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Istanbul Univ.'s coach Emre Ozsari used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American guard Whitney Knight (190-93, college: FGCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Sule Aktas (-98) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ceyhan. Istanbul Univ. moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Karsiyaka. Ceyhan lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Istanbul Univ. will face Karsiyaka (#14) in Izmir in the next round. Ceyhan will play at home against Yalova Vip and hope to win that game.
