Regular Season Round 7: Zalgiris II - Vilniaus KM I 82-95

Bottom-ranked Zalgiris II (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-82 loss to leader Vilniaus KM I (5-0) in Kaunas. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Zalgiris II was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 52-38 second half run of Vilniaus KM I. They also forced 24 Zalgiris II turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Zalgiris II's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Matas Mikenas (199-3) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Regimantas Ciunys (191-3) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five Vilniaus KM I players scored in double figures. Center Rokas Jocius (208-3) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and forward Audrius Pankratjevas (195-3) added 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) in the effort for Zalgiris II. Vilniaus KM I keeps a position of league leader. Zalgiris II at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Vilniaus KM I will play against Perkunas (#5) in Kaunas in the next round. Zalgiris II will have a break next round.
