The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rheinland as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Rheinland smashed 6th ranked Osnabrueck in Bergisch Gladbach 81-36. Rheinland dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Osnabrueck's 16. Rheinland forced 28 Osnabrueck turnovers and had a 11-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Osnabrueck's players. Croatian Andjela Katavic (178-99) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and the former international Birte Thimm (180-87) chipped in 3 points and 12 rebounds. Four Rheinland players scored in double figures. Guard Victoria Poros (175-1) responded with 9 points and Clara Schwartz (180-96) scored 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rheinland (16-1) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Osnabrueck lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Osnabrueck will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Rheinland will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Duesseldorf on the road.
