Regular Season Round 27: Focsani - Oradea 59-83

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Focsani (6-16) was crushed at home by third ranked Oradea (16-5) 83-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Oradea led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Focsani's 28. They outrebounded Focsani 38-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. Oradea looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Dragan Zekovic (210-87, agency: 011 Sports) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jimmie Taylor (193-94, college: Rider) who recorded 20 points and the other American import forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Oradea. Defending champion maintains third place with 16-5 record having three points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Focsani at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Oradea will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Focsani will play on the road against Timisoara (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
