There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Chemnitz (11-19) was smashed by fourteenth ranked Telekom Baskets (11-19) in Bonn 86-62. Telekom Baskets made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Serbian Strahinja Micovic (205-92, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. International center Leon Kratzer (211-97, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Five Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jonas Richter (205-97) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Marcus Thornton (193-93, college: William & Mary) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Telekom Baskets moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bayreuth and Chemnitz. Telekom Baskets' next round opponent will be higher ranked Skyliners (#11) in Frankfurt and it may be quite challenging game.
