Regular Season Round 39: Kyiv Basket - Cherkasy 90-67

Superleague top team - Kyiv Basket (29-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Cherkasy (13-23) 90-67. It looked good early as Cherkasy took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kyiv Basket had a 29-8 second period charge getting the lead and Cherkasy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-90. It was a great shooting night for Kyiv Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. It was a quality performance for American guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: DePaul, agency: BIG) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International power forward Sergiy Pavlov (204-97) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Five Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. American guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU, agency: BIG) came up with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Dmytro Skapintsev (216-98) added 16 points respectively for Cherkasy in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kyiv Basket have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 29-7 record. Cherkasy lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 23 games lost. Kyiv Basket will play against Zaporizhye (#5) in Zaporozhye in the next round. Cherkasy will play on the road against Mykolaiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
