Important game to mention about took place in Quakenbrueck. Second ranked Science City Jena (3-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Artland Dragons (0-4) 88-87 on Monday evening. Science City Jena made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Julius Wolf (203-93) who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds and center Robin Lodders (206-94) supported him with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Science City Jena's coach Frank Menz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds by center Robert Oehle (209-88) did not help to save the game for Artland Dragons. American Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU) added 21 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena maintains second position in Group 1 with 3-1 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Heidelberg. Artland Dragons at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Science City Jena will play against league's leader Bayer Giants in Leverkusen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Artland Dragons will play at home against Rostock and hope to get finally their first victory.
