Regular Season Round 40: Dnipro - Budivelnyk 87-82
Date: April 27, 2021
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Budivelnyk (21-17) was defeated on the road by second ranked Dnipro (26-12) 87-82 on Tuesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Budivelnyk trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 27-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-87 at the end of the game. Dnipro made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (203-92) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 assists and the former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (205-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists and American forward Brice Johnson (206-94, college: UNC) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Dnipro and four Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 26-12 record having just two points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Loser Budivelnyk keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
