Regular Season Round 29: Denizli - Istanbul 87-63

TBL top team - Merkezefendi (21-8) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixteenth ranked Istanbul (4-25) in Denizl 87-63. Merkezefendi players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Hakan Yapar (202-84) nailed 18 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winning side and guard Mustafa Kurtuldum (196-1) accounted for 10 points and 6 assists. Four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. American forward James White (204-93, college: Georgia Tech) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Zekeriya Tekin (184-4) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Istanbul in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Merkezefendi have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Newly promoted Merkezefendi maintains first place with 21-8 record. Istanbul lost fourth consecutive game. Istanbul at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 25 lost games. Merkezefendi will play against Duzce Belediye (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Istanbul will play against Akhisar Bld (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
