Regular Season Round 33: Hamburg - Goettingen 93-91

Eleventh-ranked BG Goettingen (12-19) was very close to win a game against seventh ranked Hamburg Towers (21-12). Hamburg Towers managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Hamburg Towers dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to BG Goettingen's 40. Hamburg Towers forced 22 BG Goettingen turnovers. Strangely BG Goettingen outrebounded Hamburg Towers 34-18 including a 28-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard TJ Shorts (175-97, college: UC Davis) who scored 24 points. International point guard Justus Hollatz (191-1, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian Rihards Lomazs (190-96) who recorded 26 points and American power forward Harper Kamp (203-88, college: California) added 19 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively. Four BG Goettingen players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Hamburg Towers maintains seventh place with 21-12 record. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Hamburg Towers' next round opponent will be Skyliners (#14) in Frankfurt and are hoping to win another game. BG Goettingen will play at home against Bayreuth and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
