Regular Season Round 3: ETB Miners - Recklinghausen 57-81

Not a big story in a game in Essen where ETB Miners (0-2) were rolled over by Recklinghausen (2-0) 81-57 on Saturday. Recklinghausen forced 23 ETB Miners turnovers. Strangely ETB Miners outrebounded Recklinghausen 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard David Ewald (185-99) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Croatian-Montenegrin forward Matija Jokic (203-98, college: Arizona W. CC) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. Recklinghausen's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian-Croatian power forward Jozo Brkic (211-86, agency: PEPI SPORT) who recorded 11 points and 7 rebounds and American-Irish guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. Recklinghausen will meet at home Deutzer in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ETB Miners will play against Ibbenbueren (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
