Regular Season Round 2: Chaika - Kyiv Basket 65-95
Date: October 2, 2021
Very predictable result when Kyiv Basket rolled over Chaika in Berdiansk 95-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyiv Basket. Chaika managed to win third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyiv Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Chaika's 38. Kyiv Basket forced 19 Chaika turnovers. American guard Ieshia Small (170-94, college: Maryland) notched 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import center Ciera Johnson (190-97, college: Texas A&M) supported her with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by point guard Olena Popova (167-1) did not help to save the game for Chaika. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
