Regular Season Round 2: Afyon - Turk Telekom 61-80

There was a minor upset when Afyon Bld was outscored by Turk Telekom in Afyonkarahisar 80-61 on Sunday. Turk Telekom dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon Bld's 20. They outrebounded Afyon Bld 30-14 including a 20-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Can Ugur Ogut (178-92) notched 17 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and American swingman Aubrey Dawkins (198-95, college: UCF, agency: Network Sports International) supported him with 18 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Burak Goren used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points by the former international power forward Ayberk Olmaz (210-96) did not help to save the game for Afyon Bld. American point guard TJ Campbell (175-88, college: Portland) added 11 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Turk Telekom will meet Buyukcekmece on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Afyon Bld will play against Yalova and hope to win that game.
