Regular Season Round 1: VKM - Tornado KM 87-77

VKM used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Kaunas 87-77 on Tuesday night. The game was mostly controlled by VKM. Tornado KM managed to win second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VKM forced 23 Tornado KM turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Forward Danielius Kasparas (198-4) stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Justinas Malevskis (188-4) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. VKM's coach Linas Salkus used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side swingman Augustas Gudelevicius (192-4) responded with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Sarunas Morkevicius (181-4) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Four VKM and five Tornado KM players scored in double figures. VKM will meet Saule in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tornado KM's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Zalgiris II.
