Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights and bottom-ranked Rasta Vechta had identical 0-3 record. But Rasta Vechta was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kirchheim 96-83 on Saturday night. Kirchheim Knights forced 19 Rasta Vechta turnovers and outrebounded them 29-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. The winners were led by naturalized Albanian point guard Besnik Bekteshi (191-93) who scored that evening 31 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American guard Rohndell Goodwin (195-91, college: Chaminade) supported him with 17 points and 6 assists. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman Preston Purifoy (196-92, college: UAB, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Rasta Vechta. His fellow American import point guard James Washington (182-87, college: MTSU) added 10 points and 9 assists for lost side. Four Kirchheim Knights and five Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Rasta Vechta's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kirchheim Knights (1-3) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bremerhaven and Nuernberg. It was Rasta Vechta's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Kirchheim Knights will meet at home higher ranked SparkassenStars (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rasta Vechta will play against Uni Baskets (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
