There was a surprise result in Istanbul where eleventh ranked Acibadem (2-2) defeated higher ranked Galatasaray (2-2) 85-78 on Saturday. Acibadem looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Oguz Savas (213-87) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international Erkan Yilmaz (192-97) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Melo Trimble (190-95, college: Maryland, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Trinidad and Tobago-American swingman Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Acibadem moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Galatasaray. Acibadem will meet at home higher ranked Tofas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Efes.
