There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (2-3) defeated at home higher ranked SparkassenStars (2-2) 94-85 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American guard Rohndell Goodwin (195-91, college: Chaminade) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner, agency: Players Group) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights' coach Igor Perovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Dominic Green (198-97, college: Washington) produced 29 points and point guard Niklas Geske (188-94) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted SparkassenStars dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with Schwenningen and Karlsruhe PS. Kirchheim Knights will meet Phoenix Hagen (#14) on the road in the next round. SparkassenStars will play against Schwenningen (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
