Regular Season Round 4: Tofas - Petkim 97-83
Date: October 17, 2021
Bottom-ranked Socar Petkim (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-83 loss to fifth ranked Tofas (3-1) in Bursa. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Tofas players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Mexican Francisco Cruz (191-89, college: Wyoming) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Elgin Cook (197-93, college: Oregon, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican point guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: WVU) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists and American Justin Wright-Foreman (187-97, college: Hofstra) added 22 points in the effort for Socar Petkim. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tofas moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Socar Petkim at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Tofas will play against Acibadem (#8) in Istanbul in the next round where they are favorite. Socar Petkim will play at home against Turk Telekom (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
