There was an upset when higher ranked Bayreuth (1-2) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Hamburg Towers (2-2) 77-70 on Sunday. Hamburg Towers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Robin Christen (202-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-96, college: Liberty) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Hamburg Towers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Sacar Anim (196-97, college: Marquette) responded with 22 points and his fellow American import point guard Cameron Wells (186-88, college: Citadel) scored 7 points and 7 assists. Hamburg Towers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bayreuth dropped to the twelfth position with two games lost. They share it with Wuerzburg. Hamburg Towers will meet EWE Baskets (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Bayreuth will play against Crailsheim Merlins and hope to win that game.
