Everything could happen in Denizl at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Yalova and 11th ranked Merkezefendi had identical 1-2 record. But Merkezefendi was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Yalova 87-73 on Sunday night. Yalova outrebounded Merkezefendi 40-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman CJ Williams (196-90, college: NC State) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Marcus Lee (208-94, college: California) who added 12 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Five Yalova players scored in double figures. At the losing side Latvian Rihards Lomazs (190-96) responded with 15 points and Hakan Yapar (202-84) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Merkezefendi's coach Zafer Aktas tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yalova (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Merkezefendi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Yalova will meet at home Besiktas (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Merkezefendi will play against Afyon Bld and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
