Regular Season Round 3: VKM - Zalgiris I 87-70

Everything went according to plan in Vilniaus where VKM (3-0) beat Zalgiris I (0-3) 87-70. The game was mostly controlled by VKM. Zalgiris I was better in fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VKM dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris I's 36. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Gedas Jucius (173-4) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists. Modestas Babraitis (189-4) accounted for 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four VKM players scored in double figures. Povilas Zeimys (190-4) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Arijanas Maskaliunas (201-4) added 16 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Zalgiris I in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKM will play against KKM I (#9) in Klaipeda in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris I's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Zalgiris II.
