Very expected game when Balikesir (1-2) was edged at home by Samsun (3-0) 78-77 on Sunday. Samsun shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a great evening for American center Jalone Friday (206-96, college: NM State) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard JJ Frazier (178-95, college: Georgia) helped adding 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American forward Carlton Bragg Jr (208-95, college: N.Mexico) with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Omercan Engin (198-98) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Samsun will meet at home Konyaspor in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Balikesir will play against Mersin BBGSK (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
