There was no surprise when 14th ranked EWE Baskets (1-4) were edged by tenth ranked Hamburg Towers (3-2) in Oldenburg 79-77 on Friday. Hamburg Towers made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Swingman Caleb Homesley (198-96, college: Liberty) nailed 23 points and 5 assists for the winning side and point guard Jaylon Brown (183-94, college: Evansville) accounted for 26 points. Point guard Phil Pressey (180-91, college: Missouri) came up with 15 points and 4 assists and forward Cameron Clark (201-91, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) added 16 points respectively for EWE Baskets in the defeat. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hamburg Towers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with MBC. EWE Baskets lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with four games lost. Hamburg Towers will meet at home league's second-placed MLP Academics Heidelberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. EWE Baskets will play against BG Goettingen (#8) and hope to win that game.
