Regular Season Round 6: Rendsburg - Wusterhausen 96-71

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Rendsburg (2-4) smashed at home higher ranked WSG Koenigs (2-2) 96-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded WSG Koenigs 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Rendsburg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. American forward Devaughn Mallory (201-97, college: Jefferson) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Henning Rixen (196-99) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Rendsburg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Croatian guard Tomislav Gabric (198-91, college: FHSU) with 17 points and American Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rendsburg moved-up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Bergedorf and Bramsche. Loser WSG Koenigs dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Rendsburg will meet higher ranked Cuxhaven (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. WSG Koenigs will play against Stade and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
