LKL top team - Zalgiris (7-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nevezis (1-4) in Kaunas 102-77. Zalgiris made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Zalgiris outrebounded Nevezis 35-19 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Tyler Cavanaugh (206-94, college: GWU) who scored that evening 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Players Group) supported him with 11 points and 12 assists. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 7 assists by guard Marius Valinskas (187-99) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Latvian Rihards Kuksiks (201-88, college: Arizona St.) added 16 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-0 record. Nevezis lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Neptunas. Zalgiris will meet at home bottom-ranked Prienai CBet (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will play against the league's second-placed Rytas and hope to win that game.
