Regular Season Round 6: Koblenz - Coburg 86-81
Date: October 23, 2021
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Coburg (1-4) lost on the road to top-ranked Koblenz (5-0) 86-81 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Koblenz outrebounded Coburg 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Marvin Heckel (190-97) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists to lead the effort and American guard Shembari Phillips (190-97, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Five Koblenz players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 5 rebounds by Nigerian-American forward Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: SJSU) did not help to save the game for Coburg. Christopher Wolf (200-95) added 21 points and 9 rebounds. Koblenz have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Dresden. Coburg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with AC Wizards and Giessen 2. Koblenz will meet Speyer (#5) on the road in the next round. Coburg will play against White Wings and hope to win that game.
