LPB top team - Benfica (4-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked CAB Madeira (2-2) in Funchal 84-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CAB Madeira. They outrebounded CAB Madeira 41-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Aaron Broussard (196-90, college: Seattle) who scored that evening 20 points and 4 assists and the former international Betinho Gomes (202-85) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Benfica's coach Norberto Alves used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points by international center Claudio Fonseca (208-89) did not help to save the game for CAB Madeira. American point guard Jalan McCloud (180-95, college: ETSU) added 16 points for lost side. Benfica have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Loser CAB Madeira dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. Benfica will meet at home league's second-placed Sporting in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CAB Madeira will play against Illiabum (#12) in Ilhavo and hope to secure a win.
