Regular Season Round 6: Budivelnyk - Kyiv Basket 88-67

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kyiv: Budivelnyk (#3) and Kyiv Basket (#2). Budivelnyk (6-2) smashed visiting Kyiv Basket (6-2) by 21 points 88-67. The game was mostly controlled by Budivelnyk. Kyiv Basket managed to win third quarter 21-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Budivelnyk dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kyiv Basket's 30. They outrebounded Kyiv Basket 46-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Arella Guirantes (180-97, college: Rutgers) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Kristen Spolyar (178-97, college: Butler) chipped in 27 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Ieshia Small (170-94, college: Maryland) who recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Ciera Johnson (190-97, college: Texas A&M) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Budivelnyk have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Kyiv Basket. Budivelnyk will meet Interkhim (#5) in the next round. Kyiv Basket will play against Rivne and hope to secure a win.
