Regular Season Round 6: Recklinghausen - Grevenbroich 83-78

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Recklinghausen (3-2) won against at home bottom-ranked Grevenbroich (0-4) 83-78 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Recklinghausen forced 21 Grevenbroich turnovers. Strangely Grevenbroich outrebounded Recklinghausen 47-29 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Niklas Meesmann (186-98) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and Lennard Kaprolat (187-2) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard John Murry (192-95, college: Austin Peay) with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and Montenegrin center Dzemal Selimovic (205-99) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recklinghausen moved-up to fifth place in West, which they share with Bonn 2 and Leverkusen 2. Loser Grevenbroich still closes the standings with four games lost. Recklinghausen will meet league's leader Herford on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Grevenbroich will play against Ibbenbueren (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
