The game between closely ranked teams ended with Electrico FC's (1-2) home loss to Sangalhos (3-0) in Ponte de Sor 62-66 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Joao Martinho (-97) who led the winners and scored 23 points. American forward Steven Julian (198-96, college: Cornell) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Swingman Joao Lanzinha (190-89) came up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Brazilian guard Fernando Salsamendi (196, college: Ave Maria) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Electrico FC in the defeat. Electrico FC's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sangalhos will meet at home Sampaense (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Electrico FC will play against Sanjoanense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
