No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Loewen (4-1) edged bottom-ranked Bayern (0-5) in Erfurt 79-76 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ivorian-French swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, college: Gonzaga) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American Tyseem Lyles (185-92, college: Mercy) supported him with 9 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by international point guard Joshua Obiesie (198-0) did not help to save the game for Bayern. Point guard Sebastian Hartmann (196-4) added 17 points. Four Bayern players scored in double figures. Bayern's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Loewen have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Frankfurt Jrs. Loser Bayern still closes the standings with five games lost. Loewen will meet OrangeAcademy (#6) in the next round. Bayern will play against Rackelos (#10) in Giessen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
