Regular Season Round 5: Wuerzburg - Bamberg 50-60

The most surprising game was the first loss of Wuerzburg (4-1) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Bamberg (3-3) 60-50. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Wuerzburg. American center Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and swingman Julia Foerner (176-1) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Lisa Bertholdt responded with 9 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian guard Jessica Hanson (175, college: UBC) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Wuerzburg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bamberg moved-up to eighth place in South. Wuerzburg at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Bamberg are looking forward to face Heidelberg 2 (#13) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Wuerzburg will play against Saarlouis/Dillingen (#10) in Rehlingen-Siersburg and is hoping to win this game.
