There was an upset when higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) was defeated at home by eighteenth ranked Skyliners (1-5) 88-80 on Saturday. Skyliners shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Senegalese guard El Hadji Badio (188-99) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. American point guard Will Cherry (185-91, college: Montana) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Skyliners players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) who recorded 20 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import Jaron Blossomgame (199-93, college: Clemson) added 18 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Skyliners left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Oldenburg. Loser ratiopharm Ulm keeps the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Skyliners will meet at home higher ranked Brose Bamberg (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Braunschweig (#14) and hope to secure a win.
